About the Project
When the Covid-19 pandemic struck, the retail industry faced unprecedented challenges, and Samsung was no exception. As the Senior User Experience Director, I took on the challenge of finding new and innovative ways to help users interact with Samsung products in a virtual environment. We needed to create a consistent and engaging user experience across different lines of business and address the need to increase conversions on the company's website. This was no easy feat, but we were determined to deliver a rich and seamless experience for our customers.
The Problem
Online shopping increased as consumers sought ways to stay safe and minimize their exposure to the virus. Samsung needed to find new and innovative ways to engage with its customers and deliver a consistent user experience across its various lines of business (LOBs) while driving sales and increasing conversions on Samsung.com.
The Solution
AR customize your look
I introduced advanced AR technology to enhance the user experience and bridge the gap between the physical and virtual worlds during the COVID-19 pandemic at Samsung. Through the use of AR functionality, users were able to customize Samsung products in a more immersive way to fit their space, making the products feel more realistic. This technology encouraged users to play and experiment with different finishes and layouts, and also provided a social experience by allowing them to share their customized images with friends and family. This innovative approach significantly improved the overall user experience and helped users make more informed purchase decisions.
360 Spin
My team introduced the 360 Spin feature, which allows users to view products from all angles, giving them a more detailed and immersive experience. With this feature, users can interact with different finishes and colors using a color or finish picker, enabling them to select the perfect product to match their preferences and style. This feature enhances the customer experience and increases their confidence in their purchase, making it more likely that they will convert to a sale. By providing this advanced product feature, Samsung was able to help customers overcome the challenges of the pandemic and adapt to the new normal of shopping in a virtual world.
Compare Tools
In addition to the 360 Spin feature, we also introduced the Compare tool, which enables users to compare products side-by-side, providing a comprehensive overview of the product's specifications and features. Using advanced interactive tools such as 360 views, videos, color customizing, and animations, this tool enables users to visualize the products' specs and compare the key differences between them. With this tool, users can make more informed purchase decisions based on a comprehensive understanding of each product's unique features and benefits. By providing this advanced interactive tool, we have enhanced the customer experience, making it easier and more intuitive for users to compare products and make informed decisions. This solution is just one of the many innovative approaches Samsung has taken to address the challenges posed by the pandemic, providing a rich and engaging user experience that has helped bridge the gap between the physical and virtual worlds.
Immersive quiz
When it came to finding the right product for their lifestyle and preferences, we wanted to make it as easy as possible for users. That's why we introduced an immersive Quiz tool that features consumer-based lifestyle questions to guide them toward the products that best fit their needs. The quiz is designed to be highly intuitive and engaging, with visual cards that invite users to tap through and discover new products. We made the quiz highly personalized using advanced AI technology to provide users with targeted recommendations tailored to their specific needs and preferences. The quiz results provide feature information upfront, giving context as to why a product was recommended and making it easier for users to make informed purchase decisions. With this tool, we've improved the customer experience, making it simpler for users to find the products that best fit their unique needs and preferences.
Samsung Live
Samsung Live is a cutting-edge platform that we developed to provide customers with a more immersive shopping experience. Like Amazon Live, this platform enables customers to watch live streams showcasing Samsung products in action. By leveraging 3D, 360-degree, and AR technologies, Samsung Live allows customers to experience our products in a more lifelike and realistic manner. The platform features live product demonstrations, interactive tutorials, and virtual consultations with product experts. Customers can interact with the products in real time, asking questions and receiving immediate feedback. Samsung Live helps bridge the gap between the physical and virtual worlds, providing customers with an engaging and personalized shopping experience that enhances their overall journey with Samsung.
Virtual Store
With Samsung Live, we bridged the gap between the physical and virtual worlds and enhanced the overall customer journey with Samsung. In addition, we developed an immersive virtual store for wearables, TV, and home appliances, powered by cutting-edge 3D, 360-degree, and AR technology. This platform allowed users to interact with Samsung products in a realistic, life-like manner, giving them an authentic feel for the product before making a purchase. Together, these enhancements helped Samsung to drive increased sales, build customer loyalty, and position Samsung as a leader in the retail industry.
